-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have an appointment scheduled for this Tuesday for Veneers>...
Does anyone know if this is a painful procedure? My dentist has not mentioned anything to me about pain.
I have SEVERE dental phobia, childhood problems, so the anxiety of this upcoming visit is building today...
Any help much appreciated, especially if you have had veneers...
Thank you
Becky

Veneers are usually not a painful procedure, though there can be a little pain afterwards, which can easily be alleviated with over-the-counter painkillers. Some dentists in the US appear to refer to 3/4 crowns as "veneers", even though they're not the same thing... so be sure you know how much tooth reduction the procedure involves! Generally speaking, if you have relatively straight teeth and veneers are used to slightly change the shape and colour of your teeth, relatively little tooth reduction is involved, whereas if veneers are used instead of orthodontics (i. e. straightening teeth with braces), there can be quite a lot of tooth reduction involved. Consequently, there can be more complications (such as unintented damage leading to the need for root canal treatment). Veneers are usually a cosmetic treatment, though sometimes they can be used to strengthen badly worn teeth. It's impossible to say what is involved in your particular case over the internet

My dentist says she is only going to remove 1-1.5mm of enamel for my veneers. I am going in to talk with her today and she is going to show me exactly what she is going to do.
I discussed with her over the phone my HUGE fear of dentist and not really the pain itself.
I am feeling better about this..
