I recently had a pleasant experience at the dentist. He had me wear a pair of i-glasses (video glasses) while performing his cavity filling procedures. The glasses were lightweight and comfortable, plus the picture and sound were really clear. Watching a movie while my dentist worked on my teeth made a usually unpleasant situation much more bearable. Plus it allowed him to more fully concentrate on doing his work. It was like sitting in a movie theater about 15 rows back! I actually enjoyed going to the dentist! Are other doctors using these? They ought to be.

Actually, Lloyd (who also wrote the article on distraction - www.dentalfearcentral.com/distraction_dentistry.html) was one of the first people to use them - back in 1994 ! I've come across quite a few dental office websites which advertise them, but unfortunately, they're not all that commonly available.
