Hello all im hayley.
Well i guess you know why im here, i dont want to go to the dentist
Brief story of my probs. I used to be fine with the dentist, didnt think it was much fun but wasnt bothered with fillings etc and also had 4 adult teeth out, horrible but i did it.
Anyway couple years ago i went to the dentist needed few fillings, 5 actually, i had one done, coped but wasnt happy, then went back to have three done at once, she managed to get them drilled out eventually but i was crying and all sorts, i then went back to have the last one done, sat in the chair feeling nervous, had injections, they where fine they dont bother me at all, anyway she started drilling and i lost the plot, crying my eyes out, grabbing her arm and eventually told her to leave it ill just have it hollowed out forever!!! anything to stop her drilling. I was also totally ashamed of my behavour, i just couldnt control myself i was terrified. So that was the last time i went, i did have it filled by the way, just.
My fear is of the drilling, i cant understand why the drill wont go straight through on to my nerve and hurt, the thought of it is horrible, its the pushing, i cant have the picking stick thing either, but anything else to do with dentists im fine. Can the drill go straight through? what will it do if it does?
So now i need 3 root fillings or abstracts, have put up with two abcesses, one i had whilst in labour with our second daughter 13 weeks ago, a wobbly painful tooth and dont want to go.
I have been registered with a sedation dentist and i really want to go and get it done and not have to live with the daily fear of my teeth breaking or fillings coming out and not knowing if i can be treated, i worry everyday.
I need to send a £25 cheque before they'll book my appoinment but i havent bothered sending the cheque because then i'll have to go! But i want to go.
I just cant imagene wha sedation will be like, if im awake and able to open my mouth and stuff then i cant imagene not being scared and going mad, the dentist was lovely and assured me i will be fine and it does work.
DOES IT?? does it really work, have any of you had it done? was you still scared? what happens?
sorry for the long message, hope i havent broke any long message rules
Hopefully hear from anyone soon
A Hopeless Hayley
