OK, ProBoards has updated, but there appear to be some minor "bugs"... e.g. with the avatars (I could only get mine to work by adding a URL in the "admin" area in addition to specifying a URL path...). If you'd like to use an avatar and can't get it to work, drop me the URL of the location of your avatar and I'll add it manually. Avatars can't be bigger than 100x100 pixels!!! Use a free host such as imageshack.us to host them. Tinypic doesn't work, apparently. A good place to start looking for avatars is here: webclipart.about.com/od/msubmenu26/Gordon and gdentalfear - I'll host your avatars on my imageshack account. Guests will no longer be able to view avatars (not my decision, but ProBoards'). Over the next couple of days, expect some "too many connections" notices, as every active ProBoard admin will be trying to sort out bugs...

If anyone has any requests for or questions about avatars, you can post them in this thread... trying to get hold of Garfield on the proboards support boards at the moment (already got Fred Flintstone and Tigger back!)

I got him back, thanks to ProBoards' support forum... and he's been added to your profile !

Heh, when I first came back as a guest, I wondered where Nemo and Garfield were!

I hate that !! I thought it was really nice that guests could access most features in the past (incl. seeing avatars), but it looks like there are very few ProBoards around that don't require membership... still, I want to keep it guest-friendly! Is anyone using Internet Explorer experiencing problems with inserting smilies into the text? Reason I'm asking is that they don't work with IE 5.2. I've also changed the colour scheme of the forum - if anyone prefers the old one, no problem, simply go into your profile, and modify "skin" from "default" to "classic" (it's the last item in "Account Preferences"). Obviously, that's only possible if you are a member and have a profile to edit . If there are any special requests for colour schemes, let me know (with V4, you can have as many "skins" as you like)!

If the pastel/white background is unpopular, I can change it back to blue as default (members can choose between this one and the old one, but if the old one is more popular, I'll change it around again...)

OK - changed it back, due to popular demand, LOL! Anyone who's changed the skin in their profile might have to change it back again (the "default" one is called ClassicBlue, the light version is WhitePastels, and for our Scottish friends, there's a new Ayrshire tartan version (Patriotic) available, but it's really hard to read the text on that one... it's a bit of a novelty background, really ;D

I've been hassling ProBoards for weeks now regarding the "dupicating smilies" issue when using Safari and the "no-show smilies" issue in IE for Mac - to no avail. Maybe there'll be a patch, but I'm beginning to doubt it. So basically, for ProBoards to work properly on Mac, you'll have to use Firefox (Mozilla) for Mac. Free download here: www.mozilla.org/

Hi "Let's",
the fonts on the board seem to have got smaller. Is there a "make it bigger" button somewhere for those who need LARGE print?

Dunno, it hasn't got smaller here (I'm using Firefox, and the text displays as Verdana, which is bigger than Arial... on some browsers, it seems to display as Arial, for some reason)
BUT: there's a simple solution for increasing font size: in Internet Explorer, go to
View > Text Size > Larger (or "Increase" in Firefox)
That should do it!

Thanks! That's sorted it. I had some computer problems this week after installing an update for my virus checker. Maybe it reset the font size setting in Explorer (it did all kinds of other things, LOL)
