Discussion - "consideration of a question in open and usually informal debate"
Debate - "a discussion in which reasons are advanced for and against some proposition or proposal"
The "discussion" board is dedicated to both discussion and debate.
While, of course, everyone's welcome to post supportive posts here, this is not a support board. Please don't enter the "discussion" board if you're easily frightened or upset - go to the "support" or "general" section instead. The discussion board is a free-for-all, where you can share and voice your opinions and thoughts on topics related to dental fear or phobia (whether mainstream, controversial, or supportive).
You've been warned!
Why have a discussion board? Discussion allows us to get to know other people's take on things - and maybe see things from different perspectives. The ultimate goal of discussion is not to convince someone else of your views (although this may be the immediate goal). Instead, it's about discovering new ways of thinking about issues and acquiring knowledge which enables us to see things in a different light. Sharing information and ideas allows us to refine or reformulate our way of thinking about an issue - or perhaps even to change our mind completely. At times, confrontation may be part of that process.
If you find yourself disagreeing with something, please argue your point, but try and avoid personal insults.
The moderators reserve the right to delete or modify posts at their discretion.
This board is open to everyone, and dentists in particular are invited to join in (or start) discussions and debates.
