Thanks to letsconnect for organising this discussion board. I hope people find it useful. My first post -- shameless self-promotion! A colleague and I are hypnotherapists and are running several one-day workshops around the country on how to use hypnosis to calm down anxious patients and reduce practitioners' own stress levels. It's been running for over a year now and has proved very popular with the delegates who have attended.
There is more at our website: www.fearfreedentistry.co.uk and a bit of blurb here to give you an idea.
Best wishes,
Andrew Cain

-Improved patient satisfaction and oral health
-Less stress for you and your staff
-Potential 5% improvement in number of patients coming for regular check-ups*
-6 Hours Verifiable CPD
Better for Patients...
Patients' irrational fears of dentistry can lead to them failing to come for care when it is needed, violence against dentists, self-medication resulting in overdoses of paracetamol, and attempts to extract their own teeth. It can also have wide-ranging impacts on the rest of their lives.
...And Better for You!
Dental practitioners also suffer from difficult sessions with anxious patients, which can leave them feeling stressed and drained.
We will show you how to keep your stress levels down when dealing with an anxious patient and how to use self hypnosis to relax deeply and quickly afterwards so you can get on with the rest of your day feeling calm and refreshed.
During the day, you will learn
Rapid induction techniques
Hypnotic language and visualisation skills to guide your patient (or yourself!) into a state of calmness.
Meta-models
How to see how each patient thinks and to adapt your language to fit the way their mind works.
Metaphorical language
How to connect with your patients' unconscious abilities to promote calmness, pain relief, and accelerated healing.
Mind-body interactions
How anxiety affects patients' thinking, reaction to pain, and healing and how to help them use their mind most beneficially.
How you can reduce your own stress
How to use self hypnosis to quickly calm down and recover after difficult sessions.
The day runs from 9:30 until 5pm with one hour for lunch and coffee breaks in the mid-morning and mid-afternoon.
