Using that definition of "nuts", a large percentage of the population would be "nuts"... that's before taking into account anyone with a serious mental illness ... Sounds like a good idea - or if you can't make it in yourself, you could always send it via snail-mail... Very true - that's basic statistics for you Best of luck with that e-mail ! I'm sure you're not the first person with a dental phobia she's seen (as far as phobias go, it's a very, err, popular one ;D)!

Sounds like a good idea - or if you can't make it in yourself, you could always send it via snail-mail... I know I could post it but somehow it might be better if I could hand it in at reception. Besides, I feel so stupid not being able to go in there to buy toothpaste - I have got to do it somehow. Because it's so terrifying to go for an appointment, I can't bring myself to go in there at any other time so if I can persuade someone else to go, I do - luckily I know a couple of people who also go there (I know it sounds strange) . I could post the letter but I don't think it would make it to the postbox - even though there's one at the bottom of the road (right next to a dental surgery! ), I'd probably get as far as the postbox and then walk back home again! If I can make it through the door to get the duraphat, then there's maybe more chance of me handing it over - 'cause I'll hand it over at the same time as the money (in an ideal world where courage was in plentiful supply). Best of luck with that e-mail ! I'm sure you're not the first person with a dental phobia she's seen (as far as phobias go, it's a very, err, popular one ;D)! I'm in the middle of typing the email now. Apart from deciding to post on here, this is the hardest thing I've ever had to type - let alone tell someone about any of this... Words seem to be failing me right now, I've got as far as "Hi"...

Words seem to be failing me right now, I've got as far as "Hi"... I've finally managed to do it (and hit the send button) but I'm now very because it means that I've actually told someone about it (even though I know that potentially thousands of people have read what I've typed on here) and even though I've trusted her enough to discuss the panic attacks etc, I'm dreading tomorrow now because I'll probably get a reply

Well, I got a reply... "Hello Vicki Yes this does make sense and it might surprise you to know that quite a few people have had experiences like these. Our bodies remember and our bodies are essentially protective. We can release you from this. Would you like to make an appointment?" As you can probably guess, I am a little relieved and have replied to her email saying that I would like an appointment. Will let you know when that is, on the new board - obviously as myself though, not as "test4"! Thank you so much for all your help and advice so far, I wouldn't have been able to get this far without it - and I certainly wouldn't have even contemplated letting anyone else know about this before I posted on here (still completely terrified and overwhelmed but at least I've taken a few steps further (in my head anyway ). Whether or not I'll be able to write that letter and hand it over at the dentists is another matter though - I really hope so, but one step at a time... Anyway, I'm off to sign up on the new board! ;D

That's brilliant !!! (don't wanna say "told you so" - cos I know that this was a really hard thing for you to do ). EXCELLENT NEWS (BTW, were there any problems with signing up? I'm fiddling around with security settings, so it would be good to know what does what...)
